For many of us, our sexuality takes a backseat to more pressing life concerns and priorities--be they school, work, parenting, family and friendships, even caretaking in our partnerships. For some of us, our sexuality can become even less of a focus and an additional source of pain and shame when we’ve experienced past emotional, physical, and/or sexual abuse or assault, or if we’re experiencing current relationship distress. And yet, our sexual health deserves attention and nurturance--it’s an important part of our development, identity, self-expression, intimate relationships, pleasure, and well-being across the lifespan.
This experiential workshop will offer women a nurturing and supportive space to explore the dynamic facets of their sexuality. Participants will experience creative and empowering processes, including mindfulness techniques, expressive arts, and drama therapy. This will help participants:
- Expand their understanding of their sexual development and identity
- Identify internal and external factors that inhibit embodiment and pleasure
- Process feelings of shame and grief
- Receive support and encouragement from other women
- Reconnect with their sensuality, sexuality, and capacity for pleasure
This workshop welcomes both cisgender and transgender women of any sexual orientation. No previous expressive arts or drama therapy experience required. Shy people are welcome!
